[A quiet lakeside appears on-screen. A girl can be seen sitting by the lake, her back to the camera. The camera zooms out, then pans suddenly to the left, towards a set of buildings.]

What are you doing?

[The camera pans to the right again. The girl from before is facing the camera now, a quizzical expression on her face.]

[A girl's voice can be heard.]

Oh, um... It's just, well... Today's my last day, so I wanted something to remember this place by.

[The girl smiles, then rises from her spot and approaches the camera.]

I see. Then, shall we get going? It would be a waste to whittle away the entirety of your last day in a place like this.

Let's film a spectacular video for you to look back on.

[The feed jumps suddenly to a high vantage point. A mountain peak can be seen in the far off distance. Then the camera pans down, and the seat of an aerial lift can briefly be seen.

The sound of laughter rings out.

The feed jumps again, this time to the inside of a house.]

...I've been meaning to ask this for some time now, but is there a reason you still... [Her voice falters, and she winces.]

Hmm? What is it?

Ah... No, nevermind. It's nothing.

Are you sure? You can ask me anything, you know.

Of course.

It's nothing. Really.

[The feed jumps suddenly to the train station, then cuts out.]

[A vast cityscape appears on-screen. The camerawork is shaky as it pans from left to right; from the view it depicts, however, it's clear that it must have been filmed from a high place.

A girl's voice can be heard.]

Ummm... This is my home! It's a really wonderful place. There's a karaoke box over there. [The camera moves down and zooms in on a tall building in the distance.] I'm, um, not really very good at singing, though. [She laughs nervously.] We have a lot of magnificent singers in my class, so it gets a little embarrassing.

[She turns the camera over so that it's pointing at her.]

Hmm... What else should I talk about... [A pause.] We have... a lot of restaurants of all kinds! No matter how rare or unusual the type of food, I betcha if there's anything you're craving, you'll be able to find a place in town that's serving it.

[Then the camera's view is moving again, focusing on a place just behind several tall buildings where the side of a ferris wheel and a few roller coasters can be seen.]

This is the amusement park! I guess you can't see it very well from here, but... Oh, it's a wonderful place! I love to go there on the weekends, and the view from the ferris wheel is just breathtaking. It would be nice if we could go together, too, sometime. So come visit soon, okay?

[The clip ends abruptly as the video feed is switched off. When it next starts up again, it's pointing upwards towards a gigantic ferris wheel - this time being filmed from up close.]

Hahaha, sorry, sorry. I know we already talked about this, so I guess this is a little redundant... but, y'know... I really love this ferris wheel, so I thought it'd be worth showing up close.

[From behind her, screaming can be heard coming from the roller coasters. Then the clip ends.

When the image on screen comes to life again, it's filming the inside of a noisy arcade.]

Oh! Do you like video games? If you do, I can take you to the arcade. It's pretty big, so no matter what genre of games you're into, I'm sure we can find something for you.

[The screen pans out and over the different machines.

It stops near a rhythm game.]

That's a friend of mine over there. I should say hi.

[In a raised voice:] Hey, Ayase, you're on camera!

Ah-

[The clip suddenly jumps to a secluded alleyway, as if a chunk of footage was edited out here.]

But, you know... There really is a lot I love about this city. Lots of things and people worth protecting.

So I'm... really glad that there are people out there protecting it.

Right, Kyuubey?

[The camera pans down to her leg.]

Kyuu!

[The video feed abruptly ends.]

A series of abrupt clips play in quick succession.

A barrier... around the entirety of Nyoi-cho?

It... is true that I have difficulty detecting the exact locations of the magi in that vicinity.

I can make a giant, protective dome. Place also gave me a shield that I can use like a dumb boomerang.

I was given the power to feel other people's emotions and project emotions on others when I came here. If they have strong mental defenses, I won't be able to sway them, but most people I may be able to influence into feeling fear or even a just a general need to be somewhere else if I try hard enough. I am still learning this ability, though. If I push too hard, I may just end up panicking them.

If you've anybody in town with resistance or immunity to mind-based abilities, you absolutely have to bring them along.

I haven't been able to get an exact read on this thing's powers, but chances of it having mind-afflicting abilities are high.

You're in luck. That'd be me, and I know at least one other.

And we're both warriors born.

Most of the magi I know seem to fight at short to medium range.

Actually, I can make something like a barrier. I haven't used it much, but if it'll really help, I'm willing to give it a shot.

I focus on information gathering and analysis. I can detect nearby sources of magical energy and scan it to determine the nature of its source. From that, I can learn what an enemy's weaknesses and powers are, as well as how many enemies are in a given area.

Hoshiko's power allows her to communicate with teammates from afar, as well as intercept and send electronic signals that act as a vehicle with which she can communicate.

As far as I know, we don't have anyone like that among us, for either of those abilities. So I don't know if any of us can track electronic signals with our magic. I personally just have my bow and...well, kind of my healing, depending...
